A workshop dedicated to the self-assessment of the national system in the field of pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing.

In coordination with the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry and the WHO Office in Algeria, a workshop dedicated to the self-assessment of the national system in the field of pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing was launched today, Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The workshop brought together officials from the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry, Ministry of Health, National Agency for Pharmaceutical Materials, and the National Center for Pharmacovigilance and Medical Equipment. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s efforts to obtain the Level 3 Maturity (ML3) certification.
WHO experts participated in the workshop to follow up on Algeria’s latest preparations to achieve the “Maturity Level 3” certification according to WHO evaluation. This is a strategic objective aimed at strengthening the credibility of the national regulatory system, supporting the development of the pharmaceutical industry, and facilitating access of pharmaceutical products to international markets.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry oversaw the opening of the workshop and delivered a speech on behalf of Minister Dr. Wassim Kouidri, highlighting the importance of this meeting. He emphasized that the workshop aligns with public authorities’ efforts to reinforce the capabilities of structures under the pharmaceutical industry sector, and to promote a culture of strategic planning, assessment, and continuous improvement, in line with international standards and WHO guidelines.
The Minister also noted that the structural reforms undertaken by the Ministry, alongside the continuously evolving regulatory framework, have contributed to energizing the pharmaceutical sector, encouraging investment, and promoting the gradual integration of modern health technologies.
